Soy Lattes, Locksmiths in or around SLC, Why I didn't make it into work on Monday - and other tales of Mystery and Intrigue...

The intention was to leave town early on Saturday. But my insistence upon a perfect soy latte, followed by multiple trips to the natural foods market to make sure our camping food included all the necessary nutritious items - and of course bad-stuff-free deodorant, meant that we weren't even ready to leave the Salt Lake valley until noon.
But then approximately 432 red stop lights and one missing key to a VW camper gas tank later - Pete was officially *pissed off*.
Calls and visits to locksmith after locksmith yielded no success, and even the pony-tail wearing dudes at both VW dealerships we stopped at just shrugged and responded with "Sorry man."
Finally, a super stealthy Lock artist was able to make a new key in practically no time. By now, it was maybe around 5pm and we were considering alternatives to our planned trip out of town. I am soooo glad we decided to go. The pictures prove that we a) had a great time b) enjoyed beautiful weather, and c) clearly didn't drink enough while we were there. Oh well.
So unfortunately, I really did come down with some sort of cold type thing, and so I was sniffling and sneezing and wheezing - oh and of course bitching and whining and complaining because - how could you possibly try to talk me into climbing up that without proper equipment? Like, who cares if it's only 10 feet tall and not steep - I need a rope people! I'm sick! Wha wha boo hoo!
Oh, and then I called in sick on Monday morning. Conveniently, I really was/am sick and so I had the whole sick sounding voice going on. So what if I was about 3.5 hours away and sitting in a coffee shop waiting for the man to make my perfect soy latte.

A great year

This post is 10 days late, but I have been unbelievably busy with work and travel and stuff. Just pretend this is from January 27th, ok?

So one year ago, I met this incredibly great guy. Some memories that immediately come to mind include:

Impromptu camping trips in American Fork canyon and Lava Hot springs.

Getting him to drink vanilla soymilk with his coffee. And liking it.

Him getting me to rock climb and ski. And me falling a lot.

Him zipping my precious little feline up in his coat when we had to go out to the car in the winter.

Walking miles up city creek canyon for a midnight picnic.

Noticing the changes in his breathing patterns minutes before meeting his parents.

Watching him transform a somewhat dumpy house into a beautiful, cozy little home for someone.

Getting butterflies in my stomach every times he calls to say he's on his way over. Even just yesterday.
