So just a couple of weeks ago I found myself in the New York area. The first night that I arrived, I decided to go ahead and stay right in Times Square. I decided to stay at a 'budget' (read 'dumpy') hotel. The place was actually decent for the location, except that it looked like a pink paisley fairy had puked pink paisley-ness on the walls, and then also you sort of had to be standing sideways at all times to fit in the room. Oh and there was the fact that the windows would not close properly and I got to listen to sirens and honking and yelling and such all throughout the night. But other than that, it was ok. I decided that night to take a stroll, so I merged into the oncoming sidewalk traffic and ran like hell to keep up with the New York pace.

So the next day I was still a little sore from walking 12 bazillion miles, but I was back at it after about 10 hours of sleep. Ah, strolling through NYC's colorful neighborhoods on a sunny Saturday afternoon! It's just one of those things that you have to experience in your life. Anything goes there and everything does. The sadness I experienced on the train over to the airport was not just because I would have to explain to my boss why I spent $350 at a hotel for just one night - but because it all passed by so quickly.
